Module Objectives

This module covers general aspects of energy storage technologies and in this regard focuses on batteries as a storage system. In addition to that the course material covers the distribution of energy, grid and market integration.

On completion of this module, learners will be able to:

- differentiate between different energy storage systems

- understand the advantages associated with storing energy for increasing the reliability and stability of electrical power systems

- explain and compare different storage systems

- describe the most popular battery technologies

- know how to integrate energy storage into modern power grids
